According to a shocking report by the Centre for Science and Environment, the branded honey which is sold in our country is said to be contaminated with some injurious antibiotics.The Pollution Monitoring Laboratory of CSE reportedly conducted tests on 12 branded honey samples from Delhi which includes the famous and trusted brands of India Himalaya, Dabur, Baidyanath, Patanjali and Khadiand two Switzerland and Australia brands.

The researchers found excess level of injurious antibiotics on testing 11 samples and reportedly only Indian Hitkari brand was free of any antibiotics.As per a study conducted by CSE high level of antibiotics found in honey by leading brands including international ones.Out of 12 brands only Indian Hitkari Honey came out clean.

The Nectaflor natural flower honey, by Narimpex of Switzerland, the largest number – five – six of the antibiotics that have been tested for it, including at the highest levels of ampicillin and erythromycin, both of which may not be for the bees in any country. It would be illegal to sell even in Switzerlanditself. Similarly, violated Australian brand, Capilano Pure and natural honey, which is sold in 40 countries, and the criteria set out in the country of origin.
