Dell Adamo XPS 13 Ultra-thin Notebook price | Dell laptop

Dell Adamo 13 Ultra thin Notebook Dell Adamo XPS 13 Ultra thin Notebook Price Drops to $900 Get it from Amazon

Interested in buying Dell’s ultra thin Adamo 13 notebook, then you should know that the company has officially announced a price cut that promises to make it a more affordable machine. Dell has been forced to review its strategy and dropped the prices for its 13.4-inch Adamo from $1100 to $900 sensing the tense competition in the market.

While announcing the price drop, the company has also improved the specs of this March 2009 computer model: processor clock speed of Intel Core 2 Duo has been increased from 1.4 GHz to 2.13 GHz, RAM has now been doubled to 4 GB, and the normal 128 GB hard drive has been replaced by solid state drive. Other specifications of this laptop are: resolution of the display – 1366×768 pixels, web camera – 1.3 MP. Adamo 13 comes with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. It has a well-developed system of extensions: two USB-ports (one with eSata), Ethernet and DisplayPort connectors. Weight of the machine is 1.8 kg and the 6-cell battery gives a backup of upto 5 hours.

On a related note, for Christmas I went out and bought myself a brand spanking new MacBook Pro 17 - the i7 2.8Gz model – and I have to say that this beats all of the laptops that I’ve had in recent years. I’m rocking about 8 hours per charge and I’m loving it. If you can afford to splurge on a system, go for that one.Advantages of Dell Adamo 13 in comparison with Apple MacBook Air are like presence of backlit keyboard, two USB-ports, and Ethernet-connector, but it somewhat lacks in terms of weight (‘apple’ product weighs 1.32 kg), backup (7 h ), screen resolution (1440×900 pixels) and camera (2.0 megapixel), a weaker Intel-graphics (Nvidia GeForce 320M) and SD-card slot is also missing. However, for this top-end configuration of 13.3-inch MacBook Air you will have to shell out $1500.

LG DLNA Enabled Wi Fi Direct LG to Introduce DLNA Enabled Wi Fi Direct to its New SmartPhones CES 2011

Now you can send media to your friends, a PC or printer even when there is no access point Wi-Fi throughout. And it gets even better, you will be able to connect to any DLNA enabled TV or projector in your phone. The Black Optimus is one of the first smartphones that incorporate this technology, and plans to come to us somewhere in the first half of 2011.

Bluetooth seems like a lot of competition will have once it starts direct Wi-Fi kicks in. And this is just the beginning. Imagine what will happen once more companies start using this technology! I’m pretty sure that Wi-Fi Direct reign supreme once that happens.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Xbox360 and Wii Games

If the total number of registered users for the “Call of Duty: Black Ops” game clustered, which is the third largest state in the United States. From the November 9 release of COD: Black Ops, players have recorded 600 million hours of play, which is equivalent to 68,000 years, according to statistics from game maker Activision.

Since its launch on 9 November, the call for multi-player game popular of Duty: Black Ops has been played for a total time of more than 600 million hours. The statistics published by the game’s developer, Activision, is nothing short of amazing – given the fact that it has existed for a period not exceeding 45 days.

Although the games are pirated, yet does not affect Activision as a sale of over one billion dollars due to the loyalty of the console game players. This is the main reason behind Black Operations in 5 no illegally downloaded game. But piracy has a negative impact on the Wii and Xbox 360 consoles games.

Equally impressive – compares the number with the similar title such as Halo Reach, during its first 45 days, Halo was “only” played for 326 million hours. If that’s not enough, Activision also said that sales of Call of Duty: Operation Black have reached over U.S. $ 1 billion.

This is not the first time the franchise popular first-person shooter has “earned” this dubious award. “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2″was the most pirated game of 2009, according to TorrentFreak. As for this year, the second most pirated game is “Battlefield: Bad Company 2″ and the third was “Mafia 2″, both for PC. According to TorrentFreak, PC games are by far the most downloaded games, averaging more than three times the number of downloads compared to Xbox 360 and Wii games.

Huawei launched Android mobile Phones

Huawei Technologies on Friday revealed details on its newest smartphone running on Google’s Android operating system, in the latest show of the company’s aim to boost its profile and its penetration of new markets with low-priced Android phones.

Huawei
Huawei’s touchscreen Ideos X5

The touchscreen Ideos X5, which runs on Android 2.2, will go on sale in Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand this month, Victor Xu, chief marketing officer for Huawei’s device division, said.

The phone will be priced at $250 to $300 and will also launch in other markets, including North America, he said in webcasted remarks, without giving a time frame for those markets.

That price range is more expensive than an earlier version of the Ideos phone, which Huawei launched in September and said would have a recommended retail price of between $100 and $200 for pay-as-you-go customers. But it’s still about half the price of certain Android phones popular in the U.S. Verizon Wireless, for instance, lists the full retail price of Motorola’s Droid X smartphone as $569.99, though it doesn’t actually sell the phone without a data package.

Huawei has launched about 10 Android smartphones and will launch 10 more smartphones in 2011, beginning with the Ideos X5, Xu said. Huawei has sold more than 1 million units of the earlier Ideos phone, driven by sales in the U.S. and Japan, he said.

The Chinese company shipped more than 3 million Android smartphones last year and over 120 million units of all handsets and other devices, Xu said. Huawei has an Android tablet device called the S7.

Despite these offerings, Huawei remains far from becoming a globally recognized handset maker. Huawei-branded phones accounted for 1.3% of the 348 million mobile phones shipped globally in the third quarter, ranking the company at eleventh place, according to market researcher IDC. Nokia phones ranked first with a 32% share, IDC said.

IDC’s figures, however, don’t include phones that are made by Huawei but branded with the name of a mobile operator, which is a common practice for the company especially in developed markets.

Separately on Friday, Huawei’s cross-town rival ZTE said it plans to launch a tablet called ZTE Light LTE this year, adding to a series of Android tablets from the company. It didn’t give any details. ZTE, which like Huawei is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and is mainly a maker of telecommunications equipment, has also been pushing to sell more of its Android devices in developed markets.

Dell Venue Smartphone Android 2.2 launched at CES 2011

dell venue android smartphone Dell Venue Android 2.2 Smartphone announced at CES 2011

Dell made an official announcement on Dell Venue, a new Smartphone running on Android 2.2 Froyo at CES 2011; Venue has 4.1-inch AMOLED touch-screen with curved Corning Gorilla Glass to reduce breakage.

Dell venue also features first generation 1GHz Snapdragon processor, but the Dell Venue comes with the pre-loaded Stage UI, Swype keyboard, Flash 10.1-ready to optimize web browsing and an 8-megapixel camera facing the back of the phone.

As with the Dell Streak 7, which also launched on Thursday, the Venue comes with access to Android’s applications and widgets from the Android Market online, which the Stage interface makes relatively easy to navigate.

Though wireless carriers have yet to be officially associated with the Venue, it will be a GSM device, likely making it a fit for T-Mobile or AT&T.

Pricing and release date is yet to be revealed but expected to be released soon.

Google reviews for Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" for Tablets

Google is working very hard to get ahead of any news that Apple may have cooking regarding the possible roll out of the iPhone on the Verizon network or the iPad2. They have even given a sneak preview of the new Android 3.0 called Honeycomb.

Let’s face it, they need to work hard because they are facing very good competition. It’s nice to see Google fight for something isn’t it? Kind of let’s us ‘test their mettle’ so to speak. Here is the video from the Official Google Blog post.

The post was done by Andy Rubin who is the lead for Google in all things Android. Here is his description of what makes this new version something special.

Honeycomb is the next version of the Android platform, designed from the ground up for devices with larger screen sizes, particularly tablets. We’ve spent a lot of time refining the user experience in Honeycomb, and we’ve developed a brand new, truly virtual and holographic user interface. Many of Android’s existing features will really shine on Honeycomb: refined multi-tasking, elegant notifications, access to over 100,000 apps on Android Market, home screen customization with a new 3D experience and redesigned widgets that are richer and more interactive. We’ve also made some powerful upgrades to the web browser, including tabbed browsing, form auto-fill, syncing with your Google Chrome bookmarks, and incognito mode for private browsing.

Marketers are particularly interested in how this battle plays out because they are looking at budget allocations for apps and just their presentation online in general. It’s not good business to just take sides with one or the other platform because each audience is very attractive for various reasons. Android is growing and the Android tablet market could see the same movement that the Android phone market has as many new devices hit the stores in the coming months.

Motorola launched smartphones and 'Android Honeycomb' tablet

The newly independent company is aiming to win back the high ground in smartphones with fast new phones and a 10.1in tablet running Google's Android 3.0, aka 'Honeycomb'

Motorola Xoom The Motorola Xoom Android Honeycomb tablet on show at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Photograph: Ethan Miller/Getty Images

Motorola: they're having a press conference! With earbleedingly loud music. Really, it is damn loud. Packed room. You can't get in unless you've preregistered. Perhaps they're worried the bazillions of press and bloggers will descend like locusts. Which would be a legitimate concern, from what I've seen the past couple of days.

16:21 It's Bill Ogle, the chief marketing officer of Motorola Mobility. Hurrah. They rang the bell at the NYSE to celebrate being an independent company. He's here to talk about the products to be announced today. "They are the first step in a long line of innovation from Motorola over the last 80 years." That's not a sentence that makes a lot of sense. Sure to improve from here, then.

Going to walk us through details of new products that have been leaking all over the net for the past few weeks. And now what's going to differentiate Moto (which don't forget has seen its share of the handset market plummet in the past year, losing out to Far Eastern companies)?

"We think we can make consumers' lives simpler easier and more powerful for you." Or, to use the tagline, "Life MPowered." See what they did there? No? Big M for Motorola? Oh, suit yourselves.

And now chief exec officer Sanjay Jha, who having leapt into Android's arms saw Google dump him in favour of Samsung and be left behind. So has Google come good for Moto?

16:24 Going to "leverage the ability of these businesses to deliver converged opportunities". That's good, we never like converged opportunities to go undelivered.

16:25 "First a smartphone that I think will change forever how we stay connected." Tagged as "the world's most powerful smartphone. Atrix 4G. Dual-core processor, 1GHz each, 1930maH battery, 1GB RAM, "qHD display", fingerprint reader. "But even with these it still doesn't meet all the needs I have when I come to a business trip. Business people can get through 80% of the day using their smartphone but there are still tasks that need a larger screen and a keyboard and mouse, such as documents, watching HD video" - huh? You need a keyboard to watch HD video? Oh, needs a larger screen. So that's an essential part of the business person's work? Watching HD video? If you say so.

16:28 Seang Chau, chief software engineer at Motorola, is up. Three different people in seven minutes. Motorola Webtap application is a browser-based desktop, "it's like nothing you've ever seen before.... unprecedented integration between smartphone and computer environment."

He's got the phone sideways in an HD dock. 3 USB ports, HFMI out. OK, it's an entertainment centre. This is the missing 20% that business people don't get done? I didn't know that. You can output your phone's content to a computer screen or a big screen. Hmm.

Runs Android. Has Firefox 3.6.13 running on the phone - it's a full desktop browser, not a mobile browser. I'm thinking: insane. I'm also thinking: it's quite a thing to have got a real Firefox running on Android. And: it's a computer that you use to make phone calls? Um, OK. So as long as the business person checks into a hotel that offers spare screens and keyboards, they're fine. Or if they carry the screen and keyboard in their suitcase.. OK.

16:32 Goes to a web page; phone numbers are highlighted and become hotlinks that you can call. Intriguing - wonder if that's something Motorola has tweaked in its Android for that. Could be problems ahead if it has, because that would mean that upgrades to Android might break it.

"We sat down with some CIOs and they said this was a very good solution because they only have to manage and upgrade a single device." Also has a laptop dock, essentially a shell of a laptop that you plug the phone as a processor into. Now, that I can see the business people wanting for their 20%.

This is the sort of thing that would be giving Microsoft the heebie-jeebies. It's a sort of tablet that's a laptop that's a phone. What need then for a Windows laptop?

Jha is claiming 8 hours battery life. But can it edit Office documents? Or would you have to go via Google Docs? Remains to be seen, possibly after the presentation - Motorola says it's going to be offering hands-on.

16:35 Jeff Bradly, svp devices for AT&T mobility and consumer markets. This is going to be exclusive to AT&T (for now?). Will have more than 20 4G devices by the end of the year. "I've seen a lot of smartphones in my career" - in Cupertino they're saying "watch what you next say next" - "and I have to say this is awesome." That was clever, not saying it was the best or anything.

"Preparing our stores and our enterprise channels to sell these smartphones and innovative docking solutions." No prices yet "but they will be competitive". How surprising if you thought he was going to say prices will be "ridiculous" or "gouge the hell out of you".

Ah, Orange is also going to be selling it in the UK. Phil Robertson of Orange gets to say something. "To have a device that can both operate in the home enviroment and the out-of-home environment is very powerful."

Now on to the second of the four devices for today. November 2009 had the Cliq with T-Mobile, "learnt a lot". (Usually business speak for "it went really badly", but he doesn't elucidate.)

Now: Cliq 2. 4G, 1GHz, slide-out keyboard on the side, customizable profiles (er, so?), 3.7" screen. Adobe Flash 10.1 player. 4MP camera. "Print to retail", no clue what that may be. Hotspot capability, Wi-Fi calling. On T-Mobile. No details on what OS it is - Moto's own? Advert seems to suggest it's Android too.

16:43 Third product. "Speed is critical to consumers.. no waiting for pages to refresh. 4G technology makes that possible. Introducing the Droid Bionic."

It's a Google-y phone, looks very like the Nexus S (from Samsung). Except that the buttons for controlling it are in a different order along the bottom - one thing that Google hasn't got right but which Windows Phone 7 (which dictates the order of the buttons at the base of the handset) has.

Comes with video calling, encryption, Quick Office, video conferencing. Intriguing that Quick Office wasn't mentioned on the Atrix.

Time for the fourth gadget.

16:46 It's a tablet - "I'm pleased to announce the Motorola Xoom, the world's first Honeycomb tablet, which will be available in stores in the first quarter."

Hang on, I thought that Asus said it had a Honeycomb device at its launch yesterday. That's going to be interesting. Who will be first into the stores?

5MP camera. 3F upgradeable to 4G. Dual core processor. , 12:10 display. , looks like a 10-inch screen. Adobe Flash Player 10.1." First Android tablet with software designed for a tablet, 2x 1GHz processors. All 3G devices can be upgraded to 4G. Accelerometer, gyroscope, front and back cameras, Honeycomb demo - "the software's not completely done, so we can't let you play with it today."

Honeycomb: not much special to report. Mail client looks very like the one in the iPad. Basically, it uses the ideas from having a large screen and implements them; looks good. "Designed ground up for a tablet.... builds upon Android technology already available.. widgets... because of the larger screen area there's more functionality..."

Shows off the Maps app. It's... well, OK, it's like when you show off Google Maps on a large screen. (Distinct lack of "ooh" from the crowd.)

So: 3G version in the first quarter, 4G version in the second quarter.

And that's a wrap. So: Motorola's trying to get ahead of the rest by
• offering a really powerful phone in the Atrix: could be good, though it does need all the extras to be really usefui. Are business people, and businesses, going to abandon all their investments in laptops to go for an Atrix instead? Especially as we haven't seen whether it can edit Office files. It's a terrific idea, but something inside is nagging away and thinking it will hit a lot of inertia.

• Cliq 2. Low-end phone, not really a premier product, filling in to capture the low end.

• Droid Bionic. For the people who can't bear to abandon their laptops for the Atrix but do want something that will do pretty much all the same stuff, and act as a Wi-Fi hotspot (which Android does). Suspect this is actually going to be the better seller compared to the Atrix, wonderful though the latter's concept might be.

• a 10.1-inch tablet with Honeycomb (Android 3.0) scheduled to reach stores some time in the next three months. It looks really nice; the key will be in the pricing. Can Motorola order in sufficient volumes to push the price below the iPad 2 (as it will be competing with then)? And will the Android Marketplace be a sufficiently compelling alternative in terms of apps? It's got Angry Birds, so that might swing it.. but price will be the key here. There are going to be plenty of Honeycomb tablets within a few months of Motorola's hitting the shops, so it's going to have to rely on price or timing to get a lead.

Top Android Applications | Android Apps for the Samsung Galaxy Tab | Android Applications

Tablets are all the rage at the CES this week, and while some feel Android is not ready for tablets yet my experience with a Samsung Galaxy Tab conflicts with that POV. I grabbed a Galaxy Tab when it first appeared on the market and it has become a powerful tool for me due to an assortment of good apps. The Android Market is growing every day as new apps appear, and it can be difficult to find the good ones. Here is a list of the top 10 Android apps I use daily on my Galaxy Tab. We all use our gadgets uniquely so these apps may not make your list, but they work well for me. Note that these are not specific to the larger screen of the Tab, they work fine on Android phones. All of these apps are available in the Android Market on the device.

1. LauncherPro. The Galaxy Tab ships with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, and while it is passable I prefer more utility in the most-used feature of the Android tablet. LauncherPro is my launcher replacement of choice, primarily due to the level of customization it provides. It makes it easy to set up the home screens as desired, and makes interaction with the system a delight. LauncherPro includes some useful widgets that mimic those found on phones equipped with HTC Sense. Free (custom icons and docks available for $1.99).

2. Beautiful Widgets. Android is all about customizing the system to user preference, and this widget is a good start. It consists of a clock skin and a weather skin to make the home screen provide good information in an attractive way. Beautiful Widgets has literally hundreds of free clock skins that can be downloaded within the app to tailor the look and feel; there are a number of weather skins available too. $2.00.

3. Dolphin Browser HD. The browser on the Tab is decent enough, but I use Dolphin Browser by default. Dolphin brings desktop browser capability to the Android device, including sophisticated bookmark handling and add-ons. This is the first app I install on any Android device. Free.

4. Plume. Twitter clients are a dime a dozen, and Plume is my app of choice. It was originally released under the name Touiteur, but is now found under the Plume name in the Android Market. Plume has advanced interface features that make it easy to work with Twitter streams, including swiping to change columns and long-pressing tweets to interact with them. Free.

5. Kindle. The Galaxy Tab is a wonderful ereader with the 7-inch screen, and the Kindle app is my preferred method to read ebooks. There are alternate readers available, Nook and Kobo for instance, but since Amazon has my purchased content Kindle is my reader app. Free.

6. gReader Pro. I follow hundreds of RSS feeds daily, and while I use Google Reader on the desktop I use gReader Pro on the Tab. It syncs with Google Reader, and features an interface that is optimized for use by touch. I can skim through hundreds of feed items in just a few minutes using this app. $5.47.

7. Pocket Informant. This calendar and task manager is as good as it gets on a mobile device, and I spend a lot of time in it each day. There are lots of calendar views to choose from, and the task list can sync with online service Toodleoo to keep up-to-date on the fly. Pocket Informant is in public beta and thus free, but not for much longer.

8. Amazon MP3. I have been purchasing my music from Amazon for quite some time, and the MP3 app makes that easy to do on the Tab. I love how the app presents the free song of the day as soon as I fire it up, along with the Amazon album deal of the day. Free.

9. Angry Birds. What, you thought Angry Birds wouldn’t make the list? This game is an absolute phenomenon on many platforms, and is a joy to play on the big screen of the Tab. The ads at the top of the screen annoy some folks, but is a small price to pay for a great free game.

10. Thinking Space Pro. I am a long-time practitioner of the black art of mind mapping, and this app makes it fun to do on the Tab. The interface makes creating/manipulating maps as easy as point and click on the screen. $4.74 (limited free version available)

Android Honeycomb requires minimum dual-core processors | Consumer Electronics Show | CES Las Vegas

Although Google hasn’t confirmed hardware specifications for its tablet-optimized version of Android (a.k.a., Honeycomb), reports from hardware manufacturers out of this week’s Consumer Electronics Show are confirming rumors that Honeycomb will require dual-core processors. This shouldn’t be a problem for many of the tablets being announced this week with everything from dual-core Atom processors to Nvidia Tegra 2 chips to Qualcomm’s dual-core Snapdragons making appearances.

What about the Samsung Galaxy Tab or those cheap Chinese tablets that tech junkies have grabbed up as disposable iPad alternatives? They’re stuck at Android 2.3 if they’re lucky enough to get a system update or savvy enough to root the device and upgrade themselves.

The new dual-core chips from Nvidia and Qualcomm, although not widely reviewed or benchmarked (expect that to change as many devices bearing them are being showcased at CES this week), seem to have all the right specs to let Android tablets and high-end smartphones take on the iPad without breaking a sweat (at least in terms of performance). Gaming, 3D, and Flash-heavy websites will all be able to take off with these new processors (and their tightly integrated components from GPS to WiFi).

However, one has to wonder if Android, like many Linux distributions, has foregone lean and mean in favor of rich features and gadgets for consumers. Larry Dignan asked the other day, “What happens if Honeycomb sucks?” Has Google actually pulled a Windows Vista, adding so much eye candy and background nonsense that a dual-core processor is necessary? And will it take a second generation tablet-optimized Android iteration to recover performance?

Unfortunately, although pricing on these new dual-core, Honeycomb-ready tablets will undoubtedly be competitive with iPad, the system requirement will, for now, preclude the cheaper entrants into the market from running a tablet-optimized OS. This won’t concern the technorati and early adopters, but tablets have the opportunity to be a serious leveling force in a world that increasingly requires rich Internet connectivity from the palm of one’s hand.

Moore’s law ensures that cheap dual-core tablets will get here sooner than later, but if Google confirms the dual-core requirement, then it’s effectively delaying the transformational effect that really cheap tablets could have in the way we view personal computing.

HTC HD2 Phone Run MeeGo OS | MeeGo OS | HTC ANDROID | ANDROID GINGERBREAD

The HTC HD2 amazes us until this day. Released late 2009 with Windows Mobile 6.5 on-board, the 4.3-inch HTC HD2 has since been ported to run Windows 7, Android 2.2 Froyo and even Android Gingerbread just recently.

HTC HD2 goes from Android Gingerbread to MeeGO 1.1

While we were very sure it's next endeavor would have been Android Honeycomb, developer Steve Troughton-Smith surprised us by running MeeGo 1.1 on the handset, technically making it the first smartphone with MeeGo we can get our hands on.

So with Nokia not planning to release a MeeGo based smartphone until later in 2011, the HTC HD2 may have very well earned a new lease on life. Running a 1GHz processor, the powerful HTC HD2 with MeeGo 1.1 on board isn't set for prime time release yet however as there are a couple of bugs that need to be ironed out first.

For starters, the touchscreen doesn't function yet, making it quite impractical and cumbersome to use at the moment. Secondly, its graphics acceleration and WiFi are still being fixed. Nevertheless, Steve has managed to load some apps onto the device via a shell over the USB so things look quite hopeful for the MeeGo-based HTC HD2 when the first stable release is ready.
